While much of your power in Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2) will come from the revamped passive skill tree and your chosen abilities, support gems offer an additional layer of customization that can take your character to the next level.
These deceptively simple items have the potential to transform your build in profound ways. In this guide, we'll explore how support gems work, and provide a comprehensive list of those discovered so far. Support gems are collectible items scattered across the world of Path of Exile 2 that augment your skills with powerful effects. These enhancements can make your abilities far more potent, providing advantages like increased damage, additional projectiles, or elemental effects. For instance, a support gem might allow your attack to inflict bleed damage or grant freezing capabilities. When used strategically, these gems can drastically elevate your effectiveness in combat.
To use a support gem, simply hover over it to review its effect and then right-click to apply it to a compatible skill you've already learned. Keep in mind that each skill can only utilize one instance of a specific type of support gem. For example, while you can't stack multiple Multiple Projectiles gems on a single skill, you can cheap POE 2 Divine Orbs combine Multiple Projectiles with other effects, such as a freezing or piercing augment.
